“Brazil, Dutch eye World Cup quarter-finals place”

“Brazil and The Netherlands eyed World Cup quarter-finals places on Monday as the English media told coach Fabio Capello to quit after a humiliating exit.  Midfield maestro Kaka is available after a one-match ban for the Brazilians as they continue their quest for a record sixth title with a South American showdown against Chile at Ellis Park here.  Slovakia coach Vladimir Weiss has admitted his heroes will have to play even better than when dumping defending champions Italy out of the tournament in the first round to eliminate the classy Dutch in Durban.  The four countries are hoping to join Uruguay, Ghana, Germany and Argentina in the quarter-finals this weekend with the last two second-round games set for Tuesday with giant-killers Japan among those in action.  England, third favourites with the bookmakers behind Spain and Brazil, headed home after a humiliating 4-1 loss to Germany in a Bloemfontein game overshadowed by a legitimate Frank Lampard goal the referee never saw. ‘We gave football to the world. Yet since 1966, the world has stubbornly refused to give it back’,  said a tabloid referring to the one year that England conquered the world”
